Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a product of stable quality with a simpler process by placing the felt material and the rubber portion thereof in a mold with the portion adjacent to the rubber portion properly pinched so that the rubber portion and the felt portion are joined together checking the inflow of the rubber material with the pinched section thus formed.
CONSTITUTION: A rubber portion having a main lip 3 and a felt material composing an auxiliary lip 5 in an oil seal 1 with a felt are placed into a mold having a cavity corresponding to the shape of the oil seal 1 in such a manner that the portion adjacent to the rubber portion 4 in the oil seal 1 is pinched with a circular projection 15. The rubber portion is molded with the molding cavity while the rubber portion 4 and the felt material 6 are joined together. In this process, the pinched section 15 is so arranged that the rubber material 4 is checked from flowing inwardly along the surface of the felt material in the diametrical direction.
