Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform the treatment of waste water with high efficiency by using carriers consisting of fine activated carbon particles-mixed synthetic resin to which microorganisms are dispersedly adhered.
CONSTITUTION: Aerobic microorganisms are adhered beforehand to carriers prepared by dispersing fine activated carbon paricles of several microns to hundreds microns into a continuously cellular synthetic resin, e.g., urethane resin, etc., and then the carriers are repeatedly brought into contact with waste water and gaseous phase outside tank, where microorganisms decompose organics present in waste water to low molecular organics on the one hand and decompose low molecular organics adhered to activated carbon and resin on the other. Thus, the activated carbon is regenerated by the decomposition activity and undecomposed pollutants are adsorbed by the activated carbon particles for removal.
