Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the control response of a solenoid valve by calculating previously the target value of the duty ratio of turning-on to turning-off of the solenoid valve and comparing the ratio of turning-on to turning-off in a past prescribed frequency with the target value at every prescribed period to decide turning-on and turning-off.
CONSTITUTION: Computer 6 detects an engine state from outputs of rotary sensor 5 and air absorption quantity sensor 1 and reads out an optimum exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) rate at this time from a ROM and performs interpolation calculation and corrects this rate according to output values of absorption air temperature sensor 2, water temperature sensor 3 and air pressure sensor 20. For the purpose of achieving this corrected EGR rate, the controlling solenoid valve of air bleed 14 and solenoid valve 12 for EGR are turned on and off to perform feedback control so that the pressure of diaphragm room 91 of second valve 9 for EGR may be a calculation value corresponding to the target optimum EGR rate. Thus, turning-on and off of solenoid valves can be instructed directly from the computer, and the circuit is simplified, and control response is improved.
