Abstract
PURPOSE: To treat effectively oily sludge to regenerate it, by grinding heated fluidized oily sludge, separating the ground materials, using the oily sludge containing fine solids as fuel oil primarily and grinding again the oily sludge containing large grain solids.
CONSTITUTION: Oily sludge containing solids present at the bottom of a crude oil tank is supplied to a fluidizing apparatus where the oily sludge is indirectly heated to a temperature below boiling point of water by using steam and fluidized. The fluidized oily sludge is supplied to a grinder where solids are ground. Then the oily sludge is fed to a screen type separator where (A) sludge containing fine solids and (B) sludge containing large grain solids are separated. The sludge A is used e.g. as fuel oil for the calcination of cement. The sludge B is returned to the grinder where the solids are ground again.
