Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce power consumption by preventing thermoelectric emission material from adhering to the reverse side of the electrode end from which the electron beam of a linear hot cathode is taken out.
CONSTITUTION: The tungusten wire to which tricarbonate adheres is frame-extended between the rear electrode 22 and the electrode 24 from which electrons are taken out as the power supply section of a flat plate type image display unit. In this case, the surface to which tricarbonate does not adhere is installed on the surface of the tungusten wire, opposing to the rear electrode 22. After this unit is exhausted and evacuated, it is heated about at 400°C and is baked. Then, current is applied to the tungusten wire, i.e. linear hot cathode 31 and tricarbonate is activated. The oxide 32 is formed in a thickness of about 30μm as the thermoelectric emission material.
