USE: A herbicide which forms a solid treated layer to the surface of a paddy rice field, and kills cockspur-grass essentially without damaging rice plant.
PROCESS: The reaction of a compound II (X is halogen) with a compound III in an inert solvent at a relatively low temperature (≤50°C) gives the objective compound I.
