Abstract
PURPOSE: To effectively collect water droplets of small particle diameter contained in a gas by providing a baffle board obliquely fixed against a gas flow at a gas inlet portion of an elbow separator.
CONSTITUTION: A moisture containing gas is introduced into an inlet portion of an elbow separator 1 and passed through an impingement plate 4 comprising plural impingement elements 11 obliquely inclined against a gas flow, thereafter the thickness D of a gas layer is thinned along a partition plate and, in this portion, a gas flow speed is accerelated to increase a revolving force. On the one hand, water droplets in a gas are impinged on an element 11 and converted to large particle size, and, at the thinned portion of a gas layer, are separated from gas by force of inertia. This water droplets are transported along a large curved surface 6 and the surface of a patition plate 6 and collected in a weir 9, 10. The water droplets within a gas stream are flowed along with a gas stream along a small curved surface 7 and collected in a weir 8. The dust and the water collected in a weir 8W10 are discharged out of the system from a discharge port 3.
