Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the thickness to constant, and to economically manufacture the product with good shape, by adjusting the speed ratio of upper and lower rolls within the range of allowable speed ratio between upper and lower rolls facing each other interposing the rolled material in the rolling mill, and by adjusting the roll gap in case of the speed ratio coming out of the allowable range of speed ratio.
CONSTITUTION: The rolling mill consists of upper and lower reducing rolls R1, R2, rotating at different speeds interposing the rolled material 4, the roll position detector 1, the rolling load detector 2, etc. The roll gap and the rolling load are detected, and the exit side thickness of the rolled material is operated from these detected roll gap and the rolling load and the mill constant of the rolling mill. According to the deviation of this operated exit side thickness from the set thickness, the speed is controlled by the speed controllers 8, 9, when the speed ratio of controlled reducing rolls is in the specified range of speed ratio; and the roll gap of the mill is controlled by the roll gap adjuster 11 when the speed ratio comes out of the specified range of speed ratio; hereby, the thickness can be controlled to constant.
