Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber connector free from airtightness leakage when applying to a place having an atmospheric pressure defference, by providing an optical guide mechanism such as rod lens in a sleeve by means of a holding mechanism and sealing the inside of the sleeve so that gas may not penetrate through. CONSTITUTION:Plugs 2 to which optical fibers 1 are fitted are inserted from both sides of a sleeve 3. In the center of the plugs 2 are connected the optical fibers 1 end to end at high precision. A focusing rod lens 6 is provided in the sleeve 3 as an optical guide mechanism, and the sleeve 3 is hermetically sealed by a holding mechanism 7 of the rod lens 6 so that gas may not penetrate through. The rod lens 6 is disposed so that the central axis thereof may coincide with the central axis of the sleeve 3. By thus constituting, the optical fiber connector may be used in a place having an atmospheric pressure difference without the plug 2 being inserted, and airtightness leakage due to insufficient tightening of the plug 2 may be prevented.
