Abstract

In a plastic member (11), e.g. made from acrylic resin, a conical receptacle (12) is constructed for the end of the optical fibre cladding (13). A bore (14) for receiving the optical fibre end (15) adjoins the inner end of the receptacle (12). The bore leads to an insert (17) in the plastic member (11) which enlarges conically starting from the bore (14) for the purpose of beam expansion. <IMAGE>
