Abstract
The separable demountable connection for aligning and subsequently coupling optical fibres contains, inter alia, a deformable insert (12), which is mounted in a sleeve (11) and on which pressure is exerted via a "hydrostatic" medium (14); this pressure deforms the walls of the insert in such a way that the fibre end (15), which may be provided with an end piece (13), is firmly gripped. <IMAGE>
