Abstract
PURPOSE:To evenly evaporate the metals of reforming components on surfaces and improve the rust preventive characteristic and corrosion resistance of the continuously annealed steel hoop by passing the steel hoop through a vapor deposition chamber of high temperature which is filled with metal vapors as reforming components in a reducing gas atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:The steel hoop 3 uncoiled from a pay-off reel R is passed through a vapor deposition chamber E by way of a cleaning device C and entry loop tower T, whereby reforming components such as Bi, Se, Te are evaporated on its surfaces, after which it is annealed in a continuous annealing furnace A. Reducing gas such as NH gas or AX gas is being supplied from the outside into the vapor deposition chamber E under the pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure so as to prevent entry of air. Reforming components such as Bi, Se and Te are being melted in a pot 7 provided with a heater and the vapors thereof are filling the inside of the reducing gas atmosphere having been heated to 220-1000 deg.C with a heater 9. The steel hoop 3 of low temperature enters the inside of the chamber by way of seal rolls 13 and the vapors of reforming component metals evenly evaporate on the surfaces of the steel hoop 3, thence the steel hoop enters the continuous annealing furnace A. The annealed steel hoop of superior rust preventive characteristic and corrosion resistance is obtained.
