Abstract

PURPOSE:The captioned outer race which is obtained by bonding a joint member formed with ball grooves and cage contact faces and a shaft member contacting or engaging with this through pressing to a cup-form body obtained through drawing of a steel plate blank and which is simple, is produced with a minimum of steps and does not require many facilities. CONSTITUTION:In order to manufacture the captioned outer race to be interposed between the reduction gear and drive shaft or the like of a vehicle, a steel plate blank of a required thickness permitting plastic deformation is cut and is formed to cup-form blank with a press. Plural ball grooves W4 are roughly formed with a press on the circumferential wall W1 thereof and the ball cage contact faces W5... between the grooves are pressure-worked with a press, whereby a joint member W6 is obtained. On the other hand, a shaft member W7 is forged by steel material. It is formed with a flange part W9 having a recess W8 at the end and a coupling part W10 such as of screw around the shaft through machining. Next, the joint member W6 and shaft member W7 are fitted at the respective protruding part W2 and recess W9, and the assembly is subjected to brazing or the like in a furnace. At this time, heat treatment may be accomplished at the same time.
