Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a cooking apparatus having excellent self-cleaning effect by coating the inside wall of the apparatus with an enamel frit mixed with a metal oxide having an oil decomposition catalytic activity.
CONSTITUTION: The inside wall of a cooking utensil, e.g., oven, etc., is coated with an enamel frit as a catalyst base to which is added an oil decomposition catalyst, e.g., a mixture of one of the oxides of alkali and alkaline earth metals in the groups IA and IIA of the periodic table and one or more compounds selected from the compounds of the formula (MA)x(MB)Y(O)z (MA is one of the elements of the group IA or IIA and MB is one of the elements of the group IIIB or IVB). The coating of the enamel frit containing the catalyst provides excellent cleaning effect to the cooking utensil.
