Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain thermosetting polyurethane resin with excellent storage stability by a mechanism wherein a specific isocyanate compound and a hydroxyl group containing resin are reacted to produce a polymer free from a free hydroxyl group and having a free NCO group.
CONSTITUTION: An isocyanate compound having one or more NCO group directly bound to alicyclic ring and one or more NCO group bound to alicyclic ring through aliphatic chain (or an NCO group directly bound to aromatic ring) respectively (e.q., isophorone diisocyanate) and an OH group containing resin of which molecular weight is 500W10,000 and hydroxyl e.q. is 300W2000 (e.q. alkyd resin, acryl resin, polyester resin) are reacted at NCO/OH e.q. ratio of 1.5W6 (preferrably 2W4) until hydroxyl group disappears to form a polyurethane resin with NCO e.q. of 400W2000 and molecular wt. of 800W20,000. The above resin is not almost t hickened and gelated after preserved for a month at about 60°C.
