Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:Spiro(cyclopropane-1,2'-indane-1',3'-dione) of formula I (R is H, halogen, hydroxy, nitro, carboxyl, cyano, amino, 1W4C hydrocarbon group, alkoxy, acyl, acyloxy) or spiro(cyclopropane-1,2',3'-hydroxyindan-1'-one) of formula II.
EXAMPLE: Spiro(cyclopropane-1,2'-indane-1'-3'-dione).
USE: Antispasmodic agent.
PROCESS: An objective compound I is prepared by oxidizing spiro(cyclopropane- 1,2'-indian-1'-one) of formula III with ÷-valent Cr compound or VII-valent Mn compound in a lower aliphatic carboxylic acid at 60-180°C. The compound I is converted to another objective compound II by reducing with Zn, Al, Mg, Ca, etc. in a solvent such as an alcohol, at 0W100°C.
