Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve precision and stability of the frequency of clocks by subjecting input NTSC color signals and signals, which are obtained by delaying input NTSC color signals, to addition and subtraction, phase detection and low-pass filtering and feeding back them to a clock generation circuit.
CONSTITUTION: NTSC color picture signals inputted to terminal 1 are inputted to memory 2, analogue adder 3 and 90° phase shifter 5. Memory 2 delays the input color picture and stores n-number sample points. Now, for example, when the delay time is defined as one horizontal scanning period, the output of color burst extraction circuit 4 becomes zero because two picture signals inputted to analogue adder 3 have phases of the color burst chrominance subcarrier inverted; however, when the frequency of clocks is slipped from the reference value and the delay time generates error for one horizontal scanning period, the output above does not become zero. An output proportional to the error above is obtained by using a signal, which is obtained by shifting the phase of this output by 90° phase shifter 5, for phase detection in phase detector 6. This output is smoothed by LPF 7 and is fed back to circuit 8, thus improving stability of the frequency of clocks.
