Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate effectively suspended substance in water by passing water to be treated as parallel streams through inclined passages provided on the both sides of the main body of a vessel, and circulating part of the precipitated slurry.

CONSTITUTION: Water to be treated is introduced into a first chamber 9 of an agglomerating reaction tank B where the water and slurry from the bottom of the main body 1 of a vessel are uniformly mixed by forcedly stirring. An inorganic coagulant C and a macromolecular aid D are mixed with the resulting mixture, thereby suspended matters grow up into particles showing good precipitating property. The water to be treated flows through a conduit 12 into a liquid receiving tank 3 provided at the upper part of the main body 1, goes over a dam 2, is divided into two directions, and introduced into passages 5. During the passing of water through the passages 5, flocs are precipitated in order of size on the faces of inner isolation walls 4. As the precipitated floc is moved to the lower part of the wall 4, the particle size is increased. Clarified water is passed through an upper water collecting chamber 7 and discharged from a pipe 6. Slurry which is deposited on the bottom, is discharged from a pipe 8, and dehydrated or incinerated, if necessary.
