And while the other head gives scanning from the beginning to the intermediate position of the next magnetic track T2, tape 1 is shifted by a fixed distance. The other head scans up to the end of T2 with tape 1 stopped, and then both heads scan many times track T2 alternately. When the other head scans up to the intermediate position of T2, tape 1 is scanned again. Then the scanning proceeds to next magnetic track T3.
