Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the constant-current overcharge life and cycle life of maintenance-free lead storage battery by using a lead alloy to which are added apecific amounts of calcium, tin, and cadmium as a latticing body.
CONSTITUTION: A lead-calcium-tin alloy to which is added 0.1∼2.0wt% cadmium is used as a latticing body. The preferred amounts of calcium and tin in the lead alloy are 0.03∼0.12wt% and 0.1∼1.5wt%, respectively. The inclusion of cadmium in the lead-calcium-tin alloy greatly improves the constant-current overcharge life of the alloy, and also the addition of 0.005∼0.1wt% aluminium to the alloy improves the strength of the latticing body and prevents calcium from oxidation.
