Abstract

PURPOSE: The title adhesive capable of giving bonded products having improved gloss and solid thickness free from peeling of films due to shrinkage or bending, comprising a specific acrylic copolymer and a polyfunctional polyisocyanate.
CONSTITUTION: An adhesive comprising (A) a copolymer consisting of at least 80wt% of acrylic or methacrylic acid or their ester of formula I: (R1 is H or CH3; R2 is H or alkyl group) and a hydroxyalkyl ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid of formula II: (R3 is alkylene group) as monomer units and (B) a polyfunctional polyisocynate.
USE: Suitable for bonding various synthetic resin films to articles made of metal, paper, wood, synthetic resin, glass, and rubber, particularly for bonding films e.g. polyvinyl chloride, relatively easily attacked by solvents.
