Abstract

PURPOSE: To simply and easily regenerate an inactivated catalyst without using an expensive metal compound by treating a catalyst containing bismuth, molybdenum and iron at high temperature within an inert gas atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: When a catalyst containing oxide of bismuth, molybdenum and iron is used in the oxidation of hydrocarbon, the ammoxidation and the like, the activity of said catalyst is gradually lowered and inactivated. Therefore, this inactivated catalyst is heat treated in an inert gas atmosphere such as He, N2 and the like at the temperature of 500W800°C, preferably 600W700°C for more than one hour, preferably 2W24hr to regenerate. By this simple method, the inactivated catalyst can be regenerated without using an expensive metal compound such as molybdenum, bismuth and the like.
