Abstract
PURPOSE: To regenerate catalyst effectively by preventing the generation of nitrogen oxides by reactivating iron-containing catalyst for the cracking of heavy oils first in the main fluidized bed under an reductive atmosphere and then in the auxiliary fluidized bed under an oxidative atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Granular iron-containing catalyst, used in the cracking of heavy oils in the reactor 51, on the surface of which coke deposits when being used, is first burned in the main fluidized bed 1 under a weak reductive atmosphere, whereby the generation of fuel Nox formed by the conversion reaction of nitrogen in the coke is prevented and also wustite and metallic iron are formed on the surface of the catalyst, and then is oxidized in the auxiliary fluidized on the surface of the catalyst, and then is oxidized in the auxiliary fluidized bed 2 under an oxidative atmosphere to convert metallic iron and iron oxide to ferric oxide and triiron tetraoxide, whereby the sintering of the catalyst particles is suppressed or prevented. The catalyst deprived of coke adhered to its surface completely by combustion can be recycled to the reactor 51.
