Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable descaling of high performance to be performed with inexpensive running costs by supplying the metal strip of temperature higher than acid solution temperature to a pickling bath and maintaining the acid solution at a high temperature. CONSTITUTION:The temperature of a strip 21 whose leading and trailing ends are connected by a welder 3 is measured with a thermometer 7 and when it is higher than a desired temperature, the strip is passed through a cooling unit 11, after which it is pickled. At this time, the temperature of the strip 21 is controlled by measuring the temperature of the strip 21 immediate before the first pickling bath 12 with a thermometer 10 and sending a command to the cooling unit 11. The metal strip 21 having been controlled to adequate temperature is subsequently passed through pickling baths 12, 13, 14 and is removed of the acid solutions by a water jet washing bath 15, hot water wahing bath 16 and drying oven 17, after which it is taken up to a take-up machine 20. This method enables descaling to be accomplished without consuming large amount of heat energy. Also, the descaling of high performance is accomplished by controlling the speeds of passing and the concentrations of acid solutions in place of temperature controlling of the strip 21.
