Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently generate an alternating current of any frequency or direct current by circulating liquid alkaline metals at high speed in magnetic field and producing a current from electrodes provided in the direction perpendicular to the magnetic field.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of, for example, four pumps 2 are disposed, and connected therebetween by pipes 3 to thereby form a circulating path. Liquid alkaline metals 1 such as sodium having conductivity and low viscosity is sealed in the pipes 3. Magnets 4 are alternatively mounted on the outer periphery of the pipe 3, and electrodes 5 are provided in the direction perpendicular to the magnetic field prepared by the magnets 4. The pumps 2 are operated in this state to circulate the liquid alkaline metal to thereby produce a current generated on the basis of an electromagnetic induction law from the electrodes 5. Thus, a direct current of an alternating current may be freely obtained from the power supply according to the magnets 4 provided therein.
