Abstract
PURPOSE: To permit the judgement of thermocouple insulation deterioration and broken wire detection to be made at the same speed with normal temperature measurement, means for detecting deteriorated insulation and broken wire are porvided and the outputs from both detecting means are assembled into a data processor.
CONSTITUTION: An instruction for testing deteriorated insulation allows the contact X to close and the detection to start. If deteriorated insulation occurs to the thermocouple itself or to part of connected wiring, the thermocouple 5 is grounded through the resistor R'. The input processor 6 receives the voltage E0 across the resistor R1 due to the current passing through the power supply E1, resitor R1, thermocouple 5, resistor R' and ground. The received voltage is checked by the data processor 4 and judged if insulation deterioration occurred. If wire breakage occurs to the thermocouple or its circuit, there is no current at the thermocouple side 5, and power supply E2 gives a scale-over input to the data processor 4 through the resistor R2 and input processor 3, providing an evidence that wire is broken. Thus, deteriorated insulation and broken wire can be detected at the same speed with the temperature measurement.
