Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain cut mirror edges of an optical fiber with an optical fiber cutter by forming a circular arc-sectional curred surface at the protruded end of a sliding block at a state where the main opening and closing part is closed and by forming a curved surface of a shape corresponding to the above surface at the lower ends of upper pressing plates. CONSTITUTION:The cutter is kept in perfect repair. After cutting one end of an optical fiber, the fiber is put into notch 26 of guide 27 while facing the end to be thrown away to the opening and closing part 18b side. When the space between members 3, 4 is further closed, upper pressing plates 9, 10 draw back against springs 15, 16, and the tip of blade 8 contacts to the fiber surface to make a cut at the top of the convex. By further closing the space between members 3, 4 sliding block 18 moves backward against spring 23. As block 18 moves backward, opening and closing block 18b is opened by spring 25. By the opening of block 18b tension is applied to the fiber, which is then cut.
