Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide the subject method curtailing the cooling process, comprising the steps of : pre-foaming a foaming styrene resin, thereafter transferring the resin to a shaping mold to heat and mold the same, subsequently once releasing the molding pressure, and molding and cooling under pressure the same. CONSTITUTION:Foaming styrene resin particles containing a volatile foaming agent such as propane or the like are heated and pre-foamed. The thus obtained pre- foamed particles are placed in a shaping mold without taking ripening time thereby to heat and mold the particles. Subsequently, the compression molding pressure is released to expand the molded articles of above the softening temperature. Then, the expanded articles are molded under compression again, and thereafter are cooled thereby to obtain the object foaming articles. EFFECT:By the expansion compression molding, the surplus foaming force in the cavities of the foaming molded articles is reduced to the minimum and the cooling time for suppressing surplus foaming is shortened.
