Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the titled article of a desired shape by a method wherein expandable beads are expanded by heating in a mold to produce an intermediate molded article, then the intermediate molded article is transferred into a mold having a larger cavity and expandable beads for the second layer are charged into the larger cavity, followed by heating to expand the beads. CONSTITUTION:The expandable beads for the first layer are filled into a cavity 5 enclosed by female and male molds 3, 4 of the first mold by a filling gun 13, and are expanded by heating to produce the intermediate molded article a. Then, the first mold is opened, the intermediate molded article a in the female mold 3 is released from the female mold 3 by a movable plate 15 and is transferred to a male mold 9 of the second mold. A cavity 10 larger than the cavity 5 is formed by the female mold 8 and the male mold 9 of the second mold, the intermediate molded article a is placed in the cavity 10, the expandable beads for the second layer are filled into the cavity 10 by a filling gun 14 and they are expanded by heating to obtain the objective multilayer expansion-molded article A.
