Abstract

PURPOSE: To store the vegetable and fruit for a long term without diteriorating the freshness, by sealing the vegetable and fruit together with the deoxidizer mainly composed of iron, and the hydroxide or oxide of alkali, whthin the breathable packing material of a specified oxygen permeability.
CONSTITUTION: The main deoxidizer is prepared from the iron powder of preferably under 10 Mesh, especially under 50 Mesh, or by adding to this iron powder with about 0.01W10% of such metal halide as desirable NaCl, etc. Then, this main deoxidizer and the oxide or hydroxide of the alkali metal or alkaline earth metal together with the vegetable and fruit are sealed, being preferable to be sealed independently of each other, in the breathable packing material like as PE, etc., of the oxygen permeability 1000W15000cc/m2.24hr.1atm, especially 2000W10000cc/m2. 24hr.1atm; and then, these are stored at under 10°C.
