Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a soln. of cobalt tetracarbonyl anions alone in acetone in a high yield by reacting a Co salt, CO and H2 in solvent acetone in the presence of cobalt tetracarbonyl anions.
CONSTITUTION: A Co salt such as CoCO3 or (CH3Co2)2Co and acetone are charged into an autoclave. After replacing air in the autoclave with a mixed gas of CO and H2 in a molar ratio of 1:1W0.2, a slon. of cobalt tetracarbonyl anions in acetone is added so that the atomic ratio of the Co metal component of the anions to that of the Co salt as seed catalyst becomes 0.005 or more. A mixed gas of CO and H2 in a molar ratio of 1:1W0.2 is press.-fed and reacted with the Co salt under a press. of 150kg/cm2 or below at 50W150°C for severalWseveral tens min to obtain a uniform soln. of cobalt tetracarbonyl anions alone in acetone.
