Abstract
PURPOSE: To recover ammonia in exhaust gas, generated in a process for wet refining copper- and lead-contg. dross, etc., by introducing the exhaust gas into water together with carbon dioxide to allow ammonia in the gas to be efficiently absorbed.
CONSTITUTION: Exhaust gas generated in a process for wet refining copper- and lead-contg. ore, dross, etc. is introduced into water together with carbon dioxide in an amt. of about 0.5W5mol to 1mol of ammonia in the exhaust gas, whereby the ammonia and carbon dioxide are reacted in the water to form ammonium carbonate or ammonium hydrogencarbonate. Accordingly, most of the ammonia is captured. The resulting soln. is used as a soln. for leaching copper from dross. The exhaust gas passed through this process does not contain ammonia at all, causing no environmental pollution.
