Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent untreated sludge from leakage at start and during operation, the pipe body is inclined at a specified angle to permit the sludge outlet side to be located higher than the sludge inlet side.

After completion of freezing, heat medium is flowed in the first chamber 3a to melt the surface of frozen sludge. When raw sludge is forced in, only unfrozen sludge in the lower tube body 1 is discharged from the sludge outlet pipe 8, and frozen sludge is pushed to the stopper 9. This finishes the raw sludge charge. Thereafter, freezing and melting are repeated. This decreases the quantity of initial flow of untreated sludge discharged from the sludge outlet pipe 8 when starting operation. Since no void is formed at freezing, when sludge is forced in, no untreated sludge leaks from the sludge outlet pipe 8.
