Abstract
PURPOSE: To deliver the pulse signal of the frequency proportional to the mass flow amount directly from the Karman vortex flowmeter by varying the velocity of the air current passing through the Karman vortex flowmeter according to the density of the air.
CONSTITUTION: The intake air path 1 of the internal combustion engine is divided to main system path 3 and side system path 4 by partition plate 3. Harmonica-type rectifier 5 which corrects the disturbance of the intake air plus Karman vortex flowmeter 6 are installed at path 3. Flowmeter 6, incorporating pierced hole 7 opening vertically to the air current direction to the eddy generator plus the hot wire provided in hole 7, detects the air current caused at hole 7 every generation of the Karman vortex in the form of the resistance change of the hot wire. And flowmeter 6 delivers the pulse signal of the frequency proportional to the velocity of the air current flowing to path 3. On the other hand, flap 8 is provided at path 4 to control the flow amount. And if the opening degree of flap 8 is controlled according to the change of the density, the signal of flowmeter 6 can be used directly in the form of the mass flow amount signal.
