Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the heat and noise of an induction motor by always energizing two serial thyristors in ON state as connected in parallel with the motor as its load to thereby provide a circulating diode therefor.
CONSTITUTION: When a contactor 13 is opened and a contactor 14 is closed at DC dynamic braking time, a phase controller 5 applies control pulse signals 5a, 5b to thyristors SCR3, SCR4, respectively. Simultaneously, an arc pulse signal generator 6 applies an arc pulse 6a to thyristors SCR1, SCR2. Accordingly, reverse voltage is applied to the thyristors SCR3, SCR4. When the thyristors SCR3, SCR4 are deenergized, the thyristors SCR1, SCR2 are conducted to cause electromagnetic energy of primary winding inductance to flow through the primary winding of an induction motor 3 through the thyristors SCR1, SCR2. Thus, the current becomes continuous waveform with less ripple rate.
