Abstract

PURPOSE: To avoid windage loss in case of blast while ventilating and cooling a rotor in a shape that it is distinguished from a stator, by forming an outer circumference of the rotor in a circumferential surface with no projecting portion by disposing a ring in a non-magnetic material on the circumferential surfaces of the salient-poles of the rotor.
CONSTITUTION: A circumferential surface with no projecting portion is made up by arranging a common ring 21 in a non-magnetic material on the circumferential surface of each salient-pole 4 of a rotor 2, and the circumferential surface is faced to a stator 6 through a uniform air gap 22 between the surface and the stator 6. The rotor 2 can be ventilated and cooled in a different shape to the stator 6 in such a manner that ventilating flues 23 are built up among each salient-pole 4 by means of the ring 21 and cooling air is sent to the ventilating flues 23. Thus, the quantity of air required is decreased and the rotor can sufficiently be cooled because windage loss is not produced in cooling air fed into by agitation action by the revolution of the salient-poles 4.
