Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title fibers having improved enzyme activity, by rinsing dry-spun fibers from a solution containing an aminoacetalized polyvinyl alcohol and a water-soluble noncrystalline polymer with water, and by immersing the fibers in an aqueous solution of enzymes.
CONSTITUTION: A solution containing an aminoacetalized polyvinyl alcohol and a water-soluble noncrystalline polymer, e.g. polyethylene oxide, is dry spun into filaments, which are rinsed with water to elute only the water-soluble polymer selectively. The ultra-fine filaments 0.1W1μ in diameter thus obtained are immersed in an aqueous solution of enzymes, e.g. glucose isomerase or invertase, to give the desired fibers comprising the immobilized enzymes.
