Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare high quality coke, by mixing uncrushed tar residue with tar, and adding a part of the mixture to coal while recycling the remaining part, thereby adding a small amount of the tar residue to the coal.
CONSTITUTION: Tar residue containing coarse particles discharged from a tar decanter 1 is, without crushing, charged in a tar residue tank 2 furnished with a stirrer 2 and a steam heater 4, and stirred together with tar under heating to obtain a mixture of the tar residue and tar (a) containing ≤15% of sludge. The mixture is pumped through a piping 5 with a large capacity pump 6, and a part of the flow is branched and supplied to coal for coking 11 on a conveyor 7 while recycling the remaining part of the mixture to the tar residue tank 2 through a by-passing line 12. When the flow of the tar mixture is stopped, the pipings 6 and 12 are cleaned with steam supplied through a steam pipe 15.
