Abstract

PURPOSE: To drive a body with no generation of noises and vibration, by abruptly releasing strain energy accumulated in a resilient means that is connected to said body to be driven, thus converting the strain energy into kinetic energy to apply impulsive force to a required portion of said body, and generating compressive stress wave in the body.
CONSTITUTION: Resilient means 1 is provided at its top with a cam 4 serving as strain energy releasing means, and it incorporates therein a rod-like reaction member 2. A hydraulic cylinder 6 serving as strain applying means is connected at one end of reaction member 2, and its piston rod 7 is connected in turn to the strain energy releasing means 4. In use of the apparatus, compressed hydraulic liquid is supplied into cylinder 6 to apply compressive force to the resilient means 1, thereby causing reaction force of the same. Then, cam 4 is turned to abruptly release strain energy at the top of means 1, whereby strain energy is converted into kinetic energy.
