Abstract
Pile driving equipment comprises a pile driving unit including mechanism for applying force to drive a pile, and a reaction member that can be coupled to the mechanism and to the structure to be anchored by the pile for transmitting reaction forces to the driving unit from the structure during the application of force to drive the pile. The reaction member can be a rigid tube 4 that receives the power to be driven and the mechanism; or it can include a cross-head that carries the mechanism and that is connected to the structure, in use of the equipment, by flexible lines that are tensioned by reaction forces during the application of force to drive the pile. The mechanism can be a hydraulic piston and cylinder arrangement. <IMAGE>
