Abstract

PURPOSE: To treat high-load waste liquid at low cost and with good efficiency without degrading the quality of the treated water by providing a group of oscillating filter beds comprising connecting a plurality of objects having a multiplicity of pores in an aerating tank.
CONSTITUTION: In the method of treating high-load waste liquid by an activated sludge method, the oscillating filter beds 2 composed of a group of constituting bodies 5 comprising connecting hollow synthetic resins having a mltiplicity of pores such as polystyrene connected in a plurality in bead rosary form by means of connecting bars 4 are provided in an aerating tank 1. Activated sludge 11 containing aerobic microbes is held deposited on the oscillating filter beds 2. At the time when waste liquid 12 flows into the tank 1 and circulates therein to undergo purification treatment, the filter beds 2 oscillate and the microbes having deposited on the hollow objects 3 undergo moderate propagation and dislodging, thereby preventing clogging of the filter beds 2 owing to excess deposition of sludge. This enables the treated water of high water quality to be obtained.
