Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a thin converter with excellent acouatic characteristics by providing one opening part of an airtight case with a piezoelectric sheet with electrodes on both sides and then by reducing pressure inside of the case after placing a lid. CONSTITUTION:Piezoelectric sheet 1 provided with electrodes 2 and 3 on both its sides is fixed to case 4 with airthght stopper 8 by using set board 7. This is connected to terminals 2' and 3' for leading out. Pressure inside of airtight room 9 surrounded with piezoelectric sheet 1 and case 4 is reduced through airthght stopper 8 to make the inside of piezoelectric sheet 1 concave. Next, an electric signal is applied between terminals 2' and 3' to cause piezoelectric sheet 1 to vibrate. As a result, reduction in inside pressure results in remarkable reduction in interference value with external sound pressure and further reduction in reaction of variation in internal acoustic air pressure upon the piezoelectric sheet, thereby reducing a low- band resonance phenomenon. Further, the need to use a sound absorbing material is eliminated and its structure can remarkably be thin.
