Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the pipe clad steel of superior corrosion resistance covering the inside surface of the multilayer pipe comprising using carbon steel as base material and coaxially fitting clad steels such as stainles steel, Ni, etc. with a protection pipe for preventing the production of flaws and rolling the pipe. CONSTITUTION:A protecting pipe 3 composed of low carbon steel, etc. is inserted into the inside of the multilayer pipe comprising using carbon steel (containing low carbon steel) as base material 1 and compression-bonding, contacting or fitting stainless steel, Ni, Ni alloy as clad steels 2. The thickness of the protecting pipe 3 is about 3-6mm and the diameter differences from the clad steels 2 are better as they are smaller. The use of separating material such as alumina between the protecting pipe 3 and clad steels 2 is desirable. Next, these are compression-bonded through explosive compression-bonding, etc. and are heated to a suitable temperature, after which the assembly is rolled. The flaws to be produced at the rolling are produced on the protecting pipe 3, whereby the pipe clad steel free from any flaw is obtained. If Ni plating is applied to either base material or clad steel 2, the rate of compression-bonding may be improved. The abovementioned pipe clad steel is used by welding and fixing both end parts.
