Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a hot rolled steel material for welding, the inclusion opening crack of which in the weld heat-affected zone has been prevented by limiting the amts. of C, P, S, O and H out of the chemical components of mild steel or low alloy high tensile steel and adding slight amts. of Mg and Ca.
CONSTITUTION: The steel material is obtd. by reducing the amts. of C, P, S, O and H out of the chemical components of mild steel or under 80kg/mm2 class low alloy high tensile steel to C≤0.15%, P≤0.015%, S≤0.002%, O≤0.002% and H≤0.0002%., and adding Mg and/or Ca≤0.05%. With this compsn. inclusions are controlled, and segregation and the hydrogen content are reduced, thereby preventing inclusion opening crack in the weld heat-affected zone of a thick steel material for welded structure, or the like.
