Abstract

PURPOSE:To suppress the interference of nitric acid which is most frequently used in flameless atomic absorption spectroscopy, by adding a prescribed quantity of zirconium to the contact part of a carbon atomizer with a sample. CONSTITUTION:The zirconium is added to the contact part of the carbon atomizer with the sample so that the interference of the nitric acid to selenium is suppressed by the zirconium. The minute quantity of the selenium is then measured. The amount of the added zirconium is preferably 300-140mug. Oxygen gas may be added as an interference suppressing agent for concomitant elements into an inert gas which is used as a carrier gas.
