Abstract

PURPOSE: The polymerization of α-olefin is conducted using a high-activity catalyst that is prepared by mixing titanium trichloride resulting from reducition of titanium tetrachloride with an organoaluminum compound, with an organoaluminum compound to produce title polymer with high stereoregularity with industrial advantage.
CONSTITUTION: The polymerization of α-olefin is effected using a polymerization catalyst prepared by mixing (A) a titanium trichloride of fine particle sizes and violet color, resulting from reducing titanium tetrachloride with an organoaluminum compound of formula I (R is 1W20C hydrocarbyl; n is integral number of 1W3; X is halogen) and precipitating the liquid product by contacting with a precipitator at 40W150°C, with (B) an organoaluminum compound of formula II (R' is 1W8C alkyl; m is integral number of 1W3; X' is halogen), thus producing the objective polymer.
