Abstract

PURPOSE: A high active catalyst that is composed of a solid component prepared by supporting a titanium compound on a specific solid carrier and of an organoaluminum compound is used to produce the titled polymer with a high bulk density and narrow particle size distribution without deashing step in high productivity.
CONSTITUTION: An organomagnesium compound such as a Grignard reagent is made to react with a phosphorus compound of the formula: Ra 1P(OR2)bXc (R1, R2 are H, 1W20C hydrocarbon group; X is halogen atom; 0≤a<3.0, 0<b≤3.0, 0≤c<3 and a+b+c is 3) to form a solid product, which is use as a carrier. A titanium compound and/or vanadium compound is supported on the solid carrier and the product is employed as the solid component. Using a catalyst system composed of the resultant solid component and an organoaluminum compound, is effected a polymerization of an olefin such as ethylene to produce the objective polymer.
