Abstract
PURPOSE: To raise the rotation efficiency of a heavy vertical windmill of several to scores of thousand kilowatt in output, protect the windmill from damage due to a storm and raise the economical efficiency of the windmill.
CONSTITUTION: A semicylindrical electrode (a) is attached to a half-circumference part of a wind direction rotary shaft 23 rotatably supported on frames 21, 22. Insulated electrodes (b) are secured at an almost equal spacing around the former electrode (a) so that at least one of the electrodes (b) is always in contact with the electrode (a) for energization while the electrodes (b) are revolved. An annular electrode (d) is provided at a distance from the electrodes (b) and electrically coupled to the electrode (a). A wind direction rotary switch A is composed of the annular electrode (d) and a brush (e). A pair of opening/closing blades 14 are mounted on a rotary shaft 12. (A) rotary switch (B) for controlling the opening/ closing of the blades is provided at a lower part of the windmill and mechanically coupled to said switch A.
