Abstract

PURPOSE: To considerably improve an electromagnet in characteristics by manufucturing the whole structure of the core, or only the adsorbing surface, thereof, Fe-Al- Si alloy.
CONSTITUTION: Even though good characteristics are given initially, electromagnets deteriorate in characteristics when the magnetic core thereof is diformed or has worn down due to the repeat of impact and the shortage of hardness. Fe-Al-Si alloy having a high hardness can be used as the material of magnetic heads because of the high wear resistance thereof. Further, said alloy is capable of developing a high magnetic density of 104 gausses but has a small retentiveness of about 0.03Oe. Surface-worked distorted layer is much thinner than permalloy, and the deterioration in magnetic characteristic thereof due to repeated impact is small. Thereofore, effective gap can be narrowed. Thereby, characteristic can be maintained almost constant for a long period.
