Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent a cinching phenomenon from occurring by shorting the supply terminal of a motor in a stop of a tape and then by releasing the shorting when a short current exceeds a fuxed value.
CONSTITUTION: The moment stop signal D is inputted to terminal (d), a supply of tape drive signal A stops and a current supply to reel motor M is interrupted. At the same time, signal E from braking control circuit BDU turns transistor TrQ2 ON to short terminals (b) and (c) of motor M, thereby braking motor M. This short current is fed as reel motor voltage signal B back to circuit BDU by resistance R. When signal B exceeds a fixed value, output signal E of circuit BUD is cut off and TrQ2 turns OFF as the result to release terminals (b) and (c); when signal B is less than the fixed value, TrQ2 is turned ON to form a short circuit between terminals (b) and (c). In this way, the braking of motor M is intermitted, so that no cinching phenomenon will occur.
